Tax relief may be on its way to many grieving Idaho farm families as Idaho Congressman Mike Simpson cosponsors the Estate Tax Relief Act of 2009.

“The estate tax hits farm families especially hard,” said Simpson. “Throughout their lives, people pay sales tax, property tax, and income tax on their assets. Paying Uncle Sam again should not be part of the grieving process.”

The most recent figures project Idaho to have a $151.4 million budget shortfall. With this terrible debt on Idaho’s hands, many farmers, business owners and other Idaho residents already face significant state and federal tax debt. The death of a loved one can only make this matter worse.
